FarmWarehouse is an innovative agritech company dedicated to providing agricultural extension services to smallholder farmers in rural communities in Nigeria and Africa. We seek to revolutionize the process of agri-business by creating an interconnected global economy supported by reliable real-time data to empower millions of smallholder farmers and off takers through the provision of micro credits, insurance options, produce certification, agri-extension services, agricultural pre-processing equipment and warehousing facilities.

Our system ensures that users obtain the true value of their transactions and eliminates the additional costs of traditional methods. In addition, our system would guaranty financial inclusion for the most vulnerable in the society and improve food security.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Business Development Officer

Job Description

  • FarmWarehouse, an innovative agritech company dedicated to providing agricultural extension services to smallholder farmers in rural communities, is seeking a proactive and results-driven Business Development Officer to join our team.
  • The Business Development Officer will play a crucial role in expanding FarmWarehouse's market reach and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders.
  • As a Business Development Officer, you will be responsible for engaging off-takers, agric equipment vendors, produce vendors, and loan providers to foster partnerships that support the growth of FarmWarehouse's marketplace app and agricultural services.

Key Responsibilities
Build and Strengthen Partnerships:

  • Identify and engage potential off-takers to establish agreements for the purchase of smallholders' produce, ensuring a stable and sustainable market for farmers' goods.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with agric equipment vendors and produce vendors, encouraging them to list their products on FarmWarehouse's marketplace app, thereby enhancing the app's offerings for farmers and other stakeholders.
  • Research and connect with financial institutions and possible loan providers to create strategic partnerships for facilitating agric equipment loans to farmers through FarmWarehouse's platform.

Market Development:

  • Conduct market research to identify potential off-takers, vendors, and loan/insurance providers, keeping abreast of industry trends and competitors.
  • Analyze market data and user feedback to identify opportunities for improving the marketplace app and enhancing its value proposition to stakeholders.

Sales and Revenue Generation:

  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to devise and implement strategies for increasing user adoption and engagement on the marketplace app.
  • Drive sales efforts by actively promoting the app's services to agric equipment vendors, produce vendors, and off-takers, increasing the app's transaction volume and revenue.

Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing off-takers, vendors, and loan providers, ensuring their ongoing satisfaction and loyalty to FarmWarehouse's platform.
  • Address any issues or concerns raised by partners promptly, maintaining a high level of professionalism and ensuring the resolution of any challenges.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Track and report on key performance metrics related to partner engagement, marketplace app usage, and revenue generation.
  • Provide regular updates and insights to the management team, offering recommendations for improvement and growth opportunities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or partnership management, preferably in the agriculture or technology industry.
  • Knowledge of the agriculture sector, agritech solutions, and rural market dynamics is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and negotiate with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, identifying innovative solutions to drive business growth.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using technology and digital platforms for business development and collaboration.
  • Passion for rural development and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of smallholder farmers.
