The Kogi State University, Kabba (KSUK), Kogi West Senatorial District was established by Kogi State Government with a Charter from the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja, on June 26, 2023, as the 62nd State-owned University and 265th University in Nigeria. The University is to take off with Phase-1, in September 2023, using a compound / hybrid Faculty model consisting of three Faculties, Arts and Humanities, Science and Computing, and Management, Administration, and Social Sciences. The three faculties will house twenty-five (25) programs, in seventeen (17) academic departments. There will also be specialized Research and Academic Centres, Learning Resources, and ICT centers.

Job Description
The Director of Physical Planning and Development shall be an accomplished Physical Planner or Engineer fully registered with a relevant professional body and with extensive knowledge and experience on how to develop the University based on its Master Plan and how to maintain its physical facilities.
The Director of Physical Planning and Development is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the physical development as well as the maintenance and care of the University's estates and buildings.
In this regard, he/she is responsible for three broad areas: development of new facilities, maintenance and service, and rehabilitation.
Duties include:
The day-to-day maintenance, planning, development and management of the University's physical structures;
Coordination and supervision of physical development projects, ensuring quality standards and maintenance of structures in the University;
Supervision, monitoring and coordinating of all staff and activities of the Directorate; ensure compliance with the provisions of the University's Physical Masterplan and its update from time to time;
Prepare and present to Management quarterly and annual re- ports on the state of the Physical facilities in the University and ongoing and or planned projects;
Design and maintain an excellent reticulation of power, data and water supplies to all units of the University;
Carrying out other duties as may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.
Qualities of the Applicant
Candidates must possess a good honours Degree in Architecture, Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering Degree from a recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption;
Should be computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications as applicable in running a modern Physical Planning and Development Directorate;
Must possess a professionally recognized certificate with a current practicing license as well as not less than twelve (12) years post-qualification Engineering experience in a University set-up;
Must have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience in a senior management position preferably in a University or other public tertiary institutions;
Show demonstrable evidence of consummate management and leadership passion and drive in previous positions in addition, must possess excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills; exhibit the ability to be a team leader, has clear mentorship skills and plans;
Should not be older than sixty (60) years by September 30, 2023, when the position is scheduled to be occupied;
Enjoy strong physical and mental health;
Possess personal integrity, demonstrate transparency in private and public life, and be able to command the respect and loyalty of staff, students and other members of the University Community.
Tenure:
The Director of Physical Planning and Development shall hold the office for a single term of four (4) years.
Remuneration
The remuneration and other condition of service for this post are as applicable in all Nigerian Universities, and as may be determined by the Governing Council of the Kogi State University, Kabba.
