The Kogi State University, Kabba (KSUK), Kogi West Senatorial District was established by Kogi State Government with a Charter from the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja, on June 26, 2023, as the 62nd State-owned University and 265th University in Nigeria. The University is to take off with Phase-1, in September 2023, using a compound / hybrid Faculty model consisting of three Faculties, Arts and Humanities, Science and Computing, and Management, Administration, and Social Sciences. The three faculties will house twenty-five (25) programs, in seventeen (17) academic departments. There will also be specialized Research and Academic Centres, Learning Resources, and ICT centers.

Job Description
The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Head of the University.
He/she is the Chairman of the Senate, and Congregation, and an ex-officio member of the Governing Council.
The Vice-Chancellor shall among other duties:
Promote research, teaching and high standard of academic excellence;
Be responsible to Council for the maintenance of peace, law and order in the University;
Be competent at all times to advise the Council on all matters affecting the policy, finance and administration of the University;
Regulate the admission of students, subject to the guidelines and procedures approved by the Senate and other statutory bodies; e. be responsible for staff and student discipline and welfare in the University
Be responsible for the daily administrative control of the University.
Qualities of the Applicant
Applicants for the Vice-Chancellor position must be distinguished scholars with outstanding academic and administrative records.
He/ she must be a proven manager of human and material resources.
Specifically, the candidate must possess a Ph.D. Degree from a recognized University and be a Full Professor of Seven (7) to Ten (10) years standing with the ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for the University;
Must have held sufficient academic and administrative positions in the university to prepare him/her for the position of Vice-Chancellor;
Possess substantial publications in reputable national and international journals;
Should have a good understanding of the Vision, Mission and Core Values of the University;
Be able to attract research grants and complementary funds from local and international agencies, and further uplift the academic stature of the University;
Possess personal integrity in the management of funds and be able to deploy financial resources as appropriate in the context of the University's strategic plan;
Demonstrate interpersonal and team-building skills and
Possess the ability to build bridges between staff, students, and other members of the university community and stakeholders; have a demonstrable ability to establish and maintain partnerships with local, national, international, governmental and non-governmental agencies and organisations;
Be an individual who, judging from his/her track record, is likely to command respect, as well the loyalty of members of Staff, Students and the University Community;
Be able to demonstrate the ability to attract, motivate, and retain highly skilled and talented staff in all categories of staff (teaching and non-teaching);
Be able to exhibit entrepreneurial drive and ability to attract extra-statutory funds and mobilize other resources for the development of the University;
Have excellent written and spoken communication skills; should be in a position to ensure the enforcement of the University laws and regulations;
Be Information and Communication Technology (ICT) proficient and be committed to the development of ICT in the University programmes and services;
Must be of excellent physical and mental health;
Must not be more than 65 years of age by September 30, 2023 when the position is scheduled to be occupied.
Tenure:
The Vice-Chancellor shall hold the office for a single term of five (5) years.
Remuneration
The remuneration and other condition of service for this post are as applicable in all Nigerian Universities, and as may be determined by the Governing Council of the Kogi State University, Kabba.
