Redeemer's University is a private, faith-based University owned by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). It was licensed by the Federal Government of Nigeria in January 2005. The University is committed to the development of high-quality moral and academic standards, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Redeemer's University hosts the World Bank-supported African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID), Audacious Sentinel Project (2020), and has won several awards and grants. The University is the recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Grant (2020), Al-Sumait Prize for African Development (Health) in 2021, and the Winner, 2022 NAS Gold Award for Best University in Science so on. Job Description
As the highest-ranking executive position, the Vice-Chancellor will play a pivotal role in shaping the University's strategic direction, fostering academic excellence, and advancing its mission of providing a transformative educational experience.
The Position
This is a senior role that requires a dynamic, visionary and collaborative leader with a deep commitment to academic excellence, innovation and entrepreneurial leadership.
As the Chief Executive and academic head of the University, the Vice-Chancellor champions the vision and mission of the University.
He/she oversees the day-to-day administration of the University and ensures that the University's goals are met.
The successful candidate is responsible to the Governing Council and must be competent to advise Council on all matters affecting the policy and administration of the University.
Responsibilities
Provide visionary leadership, setting the strategic direction and long-term goals of the University.
Foster academic excellence, ensuring the highest standards of teaching. research, and scholarship across all disciplines.
Drive innovation and promote interdisciplinary collaboration to address societal challenges and seize emerging opportunities.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external stakeholders to cultivate a vibrant University community.
Oversee effective financial management, resource allocation, and fundraising initiatives to support the University's growth and sustainability.
Enhance the University's reputation nationally and internationally through strategic partnerships, collaborations, and engagement with industry. government, and other academic institutions.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote ethical conduct and good governance practices throughout the University.
Qualifications and Experience
The success of the Vice-Chancellor depends on his/her ability to lead, motivate and inspire academic and non-teaching staff as well as students and all other stakeholders to work towards the central purpose of the University to advance learning and enhance talent. Specifically, therefore, the candidate shall be expected to be a person with:
Outstanding leadership qualities, including the ability to develop and execute a compelling vision for a complex organisation.
A proven track record of academic excellence such as to be able to command the respect of national and international academic communities and colleagues.
High integrity and moral standard. A God-fearing leader who appreciates and acts on merit.
A clear vision for further development of the University as well as readiness to implement the vision of the University.
Financial acumen with proven and demonstrable ability to attract and mobilise international research and development grants, extra-statutory funds and other resources for the development and financial sustainability of the University.
Strong understanding of academic and research best practices, as well as emerging trends and innovations in higher education.
An understanding of the regulatory landscape and legal framework within which the acts ss to universities operate.
The candidate should not be more than 60 years at assumption of duty on October 1, 2023, and must have spent at least, fifteen (15) years in the University system, with at least 10 years as Professor with appropriate academic, research and administrative experiences.
Terms and Conditions of Service Applicable to the Post
The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years.
Redeemer's University offers an enhanced remuneration package applicable to the post.
The remuneration and other conditions of service shall be as approved by the Board of Trustees / Council from time to time.
