We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Director of Content - Mobile Streaming

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Position's Main Objectives

• Content Editorial Line: responsible for the type of content to on-board, quality of content, channel performance, user engagement, and consumer analytics. This includes taking ownership of video production when applicable.
• Content Partnership Management: managing content partners, negotiating deals (including alternate structures), ensuring partnership compliance and adherence to our processes.

Job Scope

• Direct and optimize StarNews editorial strategy and programming calendar to drive increased engagement and online community growth.
• Build a content acquisition pipeline for different genres of African content in the most popular categories, either mainstream or localized.
• Support the content acquisition strategy of local StarNews staff for all licensed content categories on StarNews in Africa (today 5 markets to grow to 16 countries by 2023).
• Mentor, motivate, and develop editorial team members to find, imagine or produce high-quality content with strong local appeal
• Oversee content licensing/commissioning negotiations, including selection, financial analysis, forecasting, and technical requirements for African and international content (mainly US/Europe).
• Build and manage relationships with senior-level leaders at content providers.
• Lead content analysis, budgeting and leverage data to inform and optimize editorial output
• Work closely with StarNews leadership, especially marketing, to develop and document acquisition plans, financial metrics and targets.

Qualities to Succeed
Required:

• Fluency in English, French and any African language
• 8+ years of relevant experience in account management, business development, content licensing, or finance
• 5+ years of experience negotiating license and/or business development agreements
• Experience in media licensing models, evaluation metrics and deal terms.
• Proven analytical and quantitative skills (e.g. ability to analyze and understand large data sets)
• Experience converting insights into strategy and communicating complex ideas clearly and logically in written communication
• Appetite for overseas challenges and curiosity in solving global problems, particularly in Africa
• Understanding of Africa’s video content business and a broad circle of contacts
• Prior experience in sub-Saharan Africa (e.g., Francophone markets, South Africa, Nigeria, etc.) media & entertainment industry
• Knowledge of digital video landscape in Africa, including solid understanding of digital video distribution technologies
• Ability to adapt to a quickly changing, fast-paced environment.

Salary Range
N150,000 - N200,000 / month.
