CCDRN partners with communities, philanthropists, government, and donors to provide sustainable community development services in conflict resolution, peacebuilding, livelihood, research, agriculture, health, nutrition, education, and governance.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Governance & Capacity Building Advisor
Location: Kaduna North, Kaduna (with frequent travels to the Northeast)
Employment Type: Full-time
Scope of work
The Governance & Capacity building advisor will provide high-quality leadership guidance, technical support, training, coaching, and mentoring to the program team.
The position will lead project interventions focused on improving leadership and accountability in the public and private sectors at the HQ level to enhance disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, and resilience to shocks.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Coordinate effectively with Government representatives at the national, regional, and community levels, as well as representatives of various Ministries.
Lead the mapping exercise of staff and external stakeholders’ capacity and training need
Provide support in designing programs and projects aligned with the CCDRN Strategy, which includes contextualizing outcomes and the theories of change and selecting interventions based on the best available evidence and the local context.
Oversee, coordinate, and implement capacity-building programs in leadership, management, policy, strategic planning, advocacy, coordination, and partnerships.
Ensuring information and decision processes and flows between management and governance layers are clear and functional.
Help define an approach to teaming/partnering with other organizations
Develops and implement a communications strategy to ensure effective communications to the broader CCDRN partner’s networks.
Review technical quality of proposals, including review of technical activities and ensuring alignment to CCDRN’s outcomes
Identify opportunities for linkages and coordination among the public, private, and civil society to increase representation and efficiency.
Facilitate the development of the training plan, including budget and logistics requirements as per timelines detailed in the project work-plan
Undertake Training Needs Assessment, as and when needed
Lead development and finalization of training material in consultation with subject matter experts and other team members, as required
Lead in organizing the ToTs for block capacity building personnel and the master trainers
Create an effective monitoring mechanism for tracking training progress and coverage of trainees and a training evaluation system
Establish a quality assurance mechanism and ensure compliance with established norms
Facilitate documentation of the training activities
Prepare, present and submit training reports as per project requirements
Policy development and review; ensure compliance with code of conduct, PSEA, etc., while working with relevant departments.
Foster and maintain effective, professional relationships with a broad range of public and private sector stakeholders;
Ensure the timely and quality completion of all relevant program deliverables and reporting; and
Actively participate in the development of annual work planning, design, implementation, and reporting related to project technical activities.
Undertake other tasks assigned by the supervisor to accomplishthe project objectives.
Minimum Requirements
Master's Degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Community Development, Peacebuilding, or other relevant fields. Experienced trainer with significant expertise in capacity development
Minimum of 7 years relevant professional experience in senior-level program management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in implementing donor development activities related to food security, health, nutrition, education, protection, agriculture, and emergency.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Required Skills:
In-depth program experience in technical, financial, and administrative oversight.
Strong leadership, supervision, and managerial skills, a high level of independent action, and a focus on innovation and strategic direction in capacity
Ability to influence, motivate and collaborate with others
Excellent organizational and analytical skills; and Team builder/player
Fluency in English and Hausa Language.
