Mactay Consulting - Our client is an origin‐integrated business operating in over 40 major producing countries worldwide, they focus primarily on coffee, cotton, and cocoa. In West Africa, they also trade in other crops, such as cashew and sesame. We provide advisory services, training and support to farmers on productivity, quality, certification, and crop diversification, environmental and broader social issues. We also run a fleet of over 150 modern trucks that serves our logistics and transport needs.

Job Title: Service Engineer / Technician

Locations: Makurdi - Benue, Ilorin - Kwara, Minna - Niger, Sokoto, Kano and Kaduna
Employment Type: Full-time

Objectives

• The service engineers play a key role in the follow through with clients from point of sale including ensuring the successful installation, commissioning and training of farmers and distributors.
• They are also responsible for all onsite preventive and breakdown maintenance and any larger off site maintenance as required.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure successful installation & commissioning of the equipment.
• Ensure all operators are fully trained in operation, repair, maintenance & safety of the equipment.
• Develop a strong expertise on every technical detail – overall assembly, micro assemblies, fabricated items, components, strength of material, load limits, equipment operation, speeds, rpm, power consumption, operating temperatures, versatility of operations, etc.
• Travel to the site operations and learn practices of machine operators, operations, maintenance, storage, transport, etc. capture such insights right & wrong practices.
• Support the Service Manager in developing training programs for owners, operators, service providers, service partners & franchisees.
• Contribute to preparation of a guide for routine and preventive maintenance in consultation with the Engineering Manager
• Identify, record & report customer complaints, grievances, feedback & suggestions. Conduct the root cause analysis with the Service Manager.
• Resolve all customer complaints within the stipulated time.
• Ensure periodic follow up for reinforcement of operating & maintenance practices among all actors.
• Identify mechanics and workshops to be appointed as Service Partners.
• Support Sales Team with field trials, demonstrations & training at site locations.
• Work hands on for all operations

Requirements

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Agricultural Engineering
• 5-7 years experience in servicing agricultural equipment.
• Specific experience in: Equipment assembly, gas welding, arc welding, engine & motor assembly, transformer, lubrication, machine tooling
• Experience working in rural areas with smallholder farmers
• Familiar with the northern Nigerian territories and willing to travel extensively in the region
• Language requirements – Fluent in English, and local languages spoken in the area of coverage (e.g. Hausa, Nupe, Yoruba, Tiv, Idoma)
• Positive, flexible with a strong customer service orientation.

Salary
N170,000 monthly.
