Executive Director at the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria

The Forestry Research lnstitute of Nigeria (FRIN) was established as the Federal Department of Forest Research in 1954. By lnstitute decree No 35 of 1973 and the order establishing. The Institute’s Decree of 1973 and the Order establishing Research Institutes of 1975 later superseded by Decree No. 5 of 1977. The Department changed to the status of an Institute. The Institute’s headquarters is located at lbadan, Oyo State. It is among the parastatals/agencies supervised by the Federal Ministry of Environment but the only research institute of the Ministry. It has six large specialised research departments – each having various specialised sections, three support units, 10 outstations spread across all ecological zones of the country, four service departments and four ND/HND awarding Colleges.

Job Title: Executive Director

Location: Ibadan, Oyo State
Term of Appointment: 4 Years

Duties

• The Executive Director is the research and administrative head of the Institute. He/she is responsible to the Governing Board of the institute and the supervising Ministry. He/she coordinates the overall implementation of the policy, programmes and projects of the Institute.

Qualifications

• Prospective candidates must be holders of PhD in Forestry or related disciplines with a minimum of 10 years research/teaching experience.
• He/she must also be a Director with a minimum of 2 years cognate working experience as at the time of application.
• While strict compliance is given to Federal Government policy on tenure-ship as a Director, candidates must ensure that the four years tenure fails within the stipulated 8 years.
• Apart from the above, candidates should also ensure that the period of 4 years appointment falls within the 65 years of age or 35 years in service.

Remuneration

• Consolidated, based on the Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Scale (CONRAISS)
