Melfac Integrated Services Limited, an international freight forwarding and logistics company, is recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Transport / Logistics Officer

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Duties and Responsibilities

• Managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within and outside the organization. This includes managing budgets, organizing schedules and routes, ensuring that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements; and making sure that drivers are aware of their duties.
• Booking in deliveries and liaising with customers.
• Allocating and recording resources and movements on the transport planning system.
• Ensuring all partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth operations.
• Communicating effectively with clients and responding to their requirements if/when the need arises.
• Booking sub-contractors and ensuring they deliver within agreed terms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Technical Studies.
• 3 - 4 years working experience in same industry or any business related field.

Skills and Qualities:

• Tact, diplomacy and calmness when dealing with drivers and disgruntled customers.
• Ability to appraise, an analytic mind and good numeracy skills.
• Excellent geographical knowledge, good people management and coordination skills.
• Excellent financial acumen, negotiation and communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of the transportation industry.
• Good intuition to make crucial judgment calls.
• Ability to multitask, deal with stressful situations, and work in a team setting.

Work Conditions

• Travel: Occasionally required, though not a regular feature of a working day.
• Working hours: Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business as working hours vary, with long hours and possibly shifts including weekends.
