Job Details
Our client an Energy Efficiency Company seeks to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant who will be a Team lead within the finance functionwith accounting and leadership skills to identify opportunities for process improvement and potential areas of risk.
He/she will ensure compliance with state, federal and international tax law through systems and system controls that are designed to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
He/she will monitor current and impending changes to tax regulations and make the appropriate updates to policies, processes, and strategies for compliance purposes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Tax:
Ensure tax computations follow established standards, develop and maintain robust and efficient tax planning.
Find and implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures.
Maintain effective controls and procedures over all aspects of the company’s tax engagements with the relevant stakeholders.
Ensure accurate and timely filing of federal and state tax returns including CIT, VAT, WHT, CGT, Transfer pricing and other business-related filings.
Work with Tax Consultants and other required teams to ensure timely filing of business annual returns.
Coordinate with various stakeholders on regular or special tax related projects including but not limited to FIRS and LIRS audit.
Complies with all federal, state and local financial on legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
Treasury:
Ensure the efficient management of company’s bank accounts.
Maintain and manage all financial records, logs, spreadsheets, and registers as may be required to facilitate treasury deliverables.
Ensure the company’s banking operations; seeing to it that all funds are appropriately banked - ensuring efficiency and returns.
Ensure conformity of company’ bank accounts with IFR Standards. Reconciling of bank statements against the GLs and clearing accounts assigned.
Check and verify cash transactions; investigate and propose possible resolution for any discrepancies.
Responsible for interest and debt analysis, with provision of relevant information and reports
Maintain loan schedules and manage revaluation process and adjustments.
Take care of the cash management system of the company and their payment mechanism.
Processing and managing Form M, CCI, custom duties and other relevant documents required and necessary for foreign transactions.
General:
Attend to the statutory audit, year in year out, and resolve all possible queries.
Provide inputs and advice to the company –this could include recommending changes that will maximize revenue and profit.
Assist the team in intercompany reconciliation.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Qualifications
Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of 5 years experience in Tax(emphasis on Tax) and Treasury operations.
Professional accounting qualifications from ACCA, ICAN, CIMA, etc
Good overall knowledge of accounting operations and administration.
Experience in working with the auditors.

A confident professional who can work using their own initiative, implanting ideas to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
Proficiency in the use of Ms Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.
Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills. Excellent understanding of the technical aspects of accounting.
Experience in dealing with all business statutory tax returns reporting and treasury operations.
The ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders locally and globally.
The ability to create detailed reports, and presentations to C-level executives.
KPIs:
Timely and accurate tax returns.
Timely and clean closure of tax audits.
Effective Tax rate- Minimizing audit adjustment that directly impact tax.
Cash taxes- Total taxes paid versus forecast provided.
Adequate support to ensure timely delivery of annual audit.
