Duties
Under the supervision of the Travel Supervisor, the incumbent performs a full range of travel services for all agencies at the Consulate.
Handles problems with airport officials, expeditors, airline officials and other contacts.
Directs VIP travel arrangements in coordination with the Control Officer, Management, and other Embassy / Consulate offices.
The Travel Assistant serves as back-up to the Travel Supervisor
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible secretarial / administrative and travel experience is required.
Job Knowledge:
Good knowledge of airline reservations and ticketing practices is required.
Detailed knowledge of USG travel regulations (3 and 6 FAM) in order to determine eligibility for travel is required.
Good working knowledge of host country travel businesses including airlines, hotels, and restaurants is required.
Must have working knowledge of host country immigration practices and basic knowledge on international travel requirements.
Education Requirements:
Education: Two-year college / university in general studies is required.
Evaluations:
These may be tested. Please specify your level of proficiency in the language listed.
Language:
Advanced level in Speaking / Writing / Reading English is required.
Skills and Abilities:
Must have a valid Nigerian driver's license to be able to self-drive consulate vehicles to airline offices, diplomatic missions and other locations as needed.
Must have excellent customer relation skills.
Must have accounting and billing skills as well as report writing skills.
Ability to deal with a wide range of post employees, family members, visitors, travel / airline agents, and the general public with tact, confidence and efficiency is required.
Must possess good organizational skills.
Must also deal with State Protocol staff, Immigration Officers and the staff at other diplomatic missions with the courtesies required by local customs.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Suites.
Must possess good numerical skills.
Typing skills with speed and accuracy is required.
Must demonstrate excellent time management and customer service skills.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
