Women in Mining in Nigeria (WIMIN) is a non-profit organisation established to protect the rights of all groups of women affected by mining operations. Our membership is comprised of passionate men and women who actively support the minerals and mining industry and represent a variety of occupational trades and professions with diverse background such as engineers, geologists, mineworkers, investors, lobbyist, educators, fulltime housewives, concerned citizens, environmentalists, civil leaders, and community leaders, Such varied background is extremely beneficial to our organization and members are encouraged to share their experiences both formally and informally.

We are recruiting to fill the position of:
Job Title: Program Officer, Women's Empowerment & Gender Equality
Location: FCT, Abuja
Reports To: President, Women in Mining
Position Summary
The Program Officer for Women in Mining provides technical support to promote gender equality and women's empowerment to women miners, service providers, women living in mining communities, career women in the industry, wives to miners, mineral traders and men who willingly collaborate with women and programs, manages a portfolio of ongoing programs, and leads the development of new programs with a special focus on mining, agriculture, water resources, environment, oil and gas , security and climate change.
Major Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of WIMIN's strategy to foster women's empowerment and gender equality, coordinating with other staff and other state chapters as well as field staff. The strategy should have a major focus on women in mining, agriculture, environment, water resources, oil and gas, security and climate change while including other areas of women's empowerment and gender equality.
Serve as home office manager for E women's empowerment and gender equality programs which range from girl's education to women's leadership, trafficking, training in persons, women economic and political empowerment, gender mainstreaming, and others. In the role of home office manager, the PO will provide technical and programmatic support to other staff/executives and field staff as well as report to donors, serve as liaison between field and home offices, and oversea project budgets.
Serve as technical advisor to WIMIN business groups and field programs in gender equality, women's empowerment, and gender analysis
Lead development of proposals for gender equality and women's empowerment.
Participate in divisional and cross-divisional program/project planning and proposal development, including mainstreaming gender equality into all WIMIN proposals and programs.
Other Responsibilities:
Build and maintain relationships with current and future donors and external audiences;
Represent WIMIN at conferences, seminars, internationally and nationally;
Provide technical expertise outside of WIMIN;
Related tasks as may be assigned.
Qualifications and Background
Education: First degree / Master's in field related to international development preferred or related experience.
Languages: English and one other major language. {Hausa language is an advantage}
Experience:
At least eight years experience in international development, demonstrated commitment to issues and programs in gender equality and women's empowerment, and experience with new business development and implementation.
Ideally, this person should have field program experience with gendered approaches to Mining, agriculture and climate issues.
Skills:
Demonstrated skills in project planning, budgeting and financial analysis;
Experience in proposal writing, concept note development, content development and knowledge of quantitative and qualitative monitoring and evaluation methods;
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in women's empowerment, gender and related areas; excellent communication skills (written and oral) for proposal preparation and communicating with donors;
Computer skills in software supported by the institution (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint); ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks;
And must be a team player with good interpersonal skills.
