Review the ITP and provide assurance/control of the quality of the paint codes, visual inspection, mixing and its application
Conduct a pre-mob inspections on materials (Paint, thinner, abrasive materials and other consumables etc) and Equipment (Blasting air compressor, nozzles, scaffolds, Airless /Conventional Spraying machines, Holiday detector, spraying tip, Deadman handle).
Issues the relevant quality control records and, when necessary, report and send to Quality Control Supervisor non-conformances reports (as applicable),
Provide unbiased reports and a third party (manufacturer) paint inspection,
Ensure environment for paint storage is in line with requirement and certification of paint consumables are valid and update to date.
Performs qualifications of coating processes and notify the Project Quality Lead and Contractor of any anomalies or irregularities in the specifications as Non-conformance products,
Review relevant areas in scope of work and conduct receiving inspection with paint contractor prior to surface preparation and paint application,
Confirm that surface preparation is in line with acceptable requirements prior to application and report same immediately.
Always ensure, confirm and records atmospheric conditions prior to starting of any painting operations.
Carries out wet and dry film thickness checks upon completion of pain application.
Verifies the correct Colour-coding and painting during painting to ensure that COMPANY colour coding scheme is duly maintained
Performs visuals inspections of determine paint condition, corrosion status of existing surface
Perform cathodic dis-bondment test after coating
Performs penetration testing.
Evaluates impact testing.
Performs visual checks after blasting.
Verify and ensure measure surface area of structures to be coated/painted is line with the agreed surface area in the contract
Estimate quantity of paint to applied on estimated surface
Check application of Fusion bonded epoxy and Polyethylene coating in coating plant mostly for line pipes.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualification:
HND or BSc /B.Eng Degree – Metallurgy & Materials/ Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry
Professional Experience (number of years): Minimum of Five (5) years and above of experience in Coating and Painting inspection, with project background within Oil & Gas industry.
Experience on construction and maintenance works in corrosion field
Minimum Professional Certification(s):
Member & Certified to National association of corrosion Engineer (NACE Level I or II) on coating inspector program (CIP-1),
Very conversant with Steel Structures Painting Council (SSPC) on Painting/Coating,
NACE Basic Corrosion Certificate,
General Requirements:
A self-starter with less supervision on what to do
Ability to interpret Code and standards accordingly and apply them,
Ability to estimate quantity requirements for proper coverage from drawings and COMPANY specifications
Knowledge of proper handling, transporting and storing requirements for protective coating and related materials,
Ability to communicate well at all levels within the Company.
Ability to analyze Steel surface and paint condition and make recommendation from inspection level.
Good Physical Condition, requires walking, climbing, and tolerance to environmental conditions
Must be proficient in common PC software (MS Word; MS Excel; MS Outlook; etc)
Fluency in English and ability to communicate in equipment supplier’s language
