Job Description

• Our client is looking for its first Finance leader (the most critical role within the business) to lead fundraising efforts in collaboration with its CEO and oversee existing Finance, Compliance, Business Intelligence and Human Resources teams.  Our client values strong business acumen, creativity and innovation and is looking for a C-level leader to partner with the founder whose vision has driven its success so far.
• We are on the hunt for an analytical whizz with experience of an early stage startup and in particular experience fundraising at a venture backed business. 
• This position will build the finance and compliance framework to help fundraise and support ambitious growth objectives. An ideal candidate will bring an entrepreneurial and strategic mindset to the business, a experience within or leading a small team in financial planning and analysis, financial modeling, compliance and budgeting, forecasting and reporting. We are open to a candidate who has 3 or 4 years post graduation, complex finance experience without team leadership experience but with a strong desire to step up. The ideal candidate is excited about disrupting a traditional industry and has an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions
Financial Planning & Analysis:

• Lead all Financial Planning & Analysis and consolidation for the businesses across all domestic and international properties.
• Build financial models that will constitute the basis of the success of the business.
• Direct all budgeting, forecasting, finance, and cash management functions
• Create executive- and Board-level presentations for budgets, forecasts, and actual vs Targetted financials and KPI reporting
• Drive the process and preparation of annual budgets, monthly flashes, and quarterly forecasts.
• Manage the annual operating budget and support the long-term strategic planning process.
• Build a best-in-class strategic FP&A function and the team, systems, and processes to support it.

Strategic Leadership & Business Intelligence:

• Derive a deep understanding of the business and provide strategic leadership by refining and reporting on the business KPIs.
• Develop and utilize data-driven analytics to generate value-added insights and actionable recommendations to drive growth and influence KPIs.
• Drive leadership for a number of related teams within the business: Finance, Compliance, Business Intelligence and Human Resources.
• Define and implement world class operational processes, procedures and tools fit for scale; utilize data and analytics to drive operational excellence.

Requirements
About you:

• You will have 4+ years of Finance and Accounting experience within a startup/scale up or  within a well respected industry leader paired with a related advanced degree; an MBA is preferable.
• You are qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA etc.)
• You are able to think strategically alongside a passion to turn strategy into results; proven competencies in financial planning, compliance, budgets and controls, and data analysis of performance and operational metrics.
• You think innovation is critical in a business environment and support others in creative thinking.
• You are a natural communicator, not just to your peers but to our prospective partners,  investors and community at large.
• You are an Excel whizz comfortable slicing and dicing complex data to drive insight.
• You are also familiar with multiple business areas and how they interplay for success: Sales, HR, Finance, Legal, Marketing, Technology, etc.
• You have a sense of humour, are ambitious, and love the thrill and madness of working in a start-up environment.
