The Federal Polytechnic Nekede - Established in 1978 as the College of Technology Owerri changed to The Polytechnic Nekede, in 1987 further renamed Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, by the Federal Polytechnic Act (Amendment) Decree No. 5 of 1993. Its programmes are duly accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Details
The Registrar/Secretary to Council is a Principal Officer of the Polytechnic who shall be responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration of the Polytechnic and shall perform such other duties as the Council and the Rector may from time to time require him to do.
Duties
Take charge of the Registry Division
Responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration of the Polytechnic.
Functions as Secretary to the Governing Council and its Committees.
Functions as Secretary to the Academic Board and its Committees.
Functions as Secretary to other Statutory Committee.
Responsible for keeping all the Records in the Polytechnic etc.
Issuing Certificate of Service, etc.
Qualifications
A good honours degree from a recognized Institute of Higher Learning, plus, at least, fifteen (15) years cognate experience; or a holder of Masters degree from a recognized Institution of Higher learning, plus at least twelve (12) years cognate experience, or a holder of doctorate degree, plus, at least ten (10) years cognate experience.
He/She must have had nine (9) years experience in Senior Management positions in higher education administration and must possess evidence of effective leadership and efficient management of material and human resources; competence, integrity and sound human relationship.
He/She must be a member of (a) reputable professional body/bodies in Nigeria and must be ICT compliant. Anyone who is not a Deputy Registrar for at least five (5) years in a Polytechnic or similar institution need not apply.
The candidate must be physically fit and morally sound, and must not be above the age of sixty (60) years at the time of assumption of duty.
Terms of Appointment/Conditions of Service
The appointment is for a single tenure of five (5) years beginning from the date of appointments and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointments.
The salary is consolidated and the appointees shall enjoy other benefits of office as may be approved from time to time by the Federal Government.
