Job Title: Director of Operations

Job Function
Responsible to the Managing Director for:
The implementation of operational strategic initiatives of the organization in providing integrated supply chain solution to its clients.
Co-ordination of operations with the Warehousing, Transportation, Specialized and International Shipment Services units to provide seamless supply chain services to the organizations’ clients.
Design and implementation of a conceptual framework for the provision of integrated supply chain solutions services to new clients in line with their expectations, requirements and scope of operations.
Overall monitoring and management of service contracts agreed with the organization’s clients.
Maintain strong relationships with clients to improve volumes throughput and network with new clients,
Provide outstanding leadership to team members, including training and development opportunities to maximize the team’s productivity.
Take responsibility for initiatives in the smooth running of the logistics operations of the organization.
Liaise with other departments including human resources, business development, and finance, to ensure operations budgets and proper marketing to meet business objectives and attract clients.
Identify patterns and problems and implement effective solutions to increase efficiency.
Maintain strong relationships with third-party suppliers which support the business operations.
Continuously reshape departmental best practices to provide highest client satisfaction.
Provide project management sponsorship and oversight for departmental projects ensure clients’ satisfaction objectives are met.
Report regularly to the Managing Director with completed on budget and on time projects and project outcomes
Main Functions
Field Operations:
Co-ordinate the operations of the service groups and specialized units heads and monitor compliance with defined operating procedures.
Review client’s system of procedures and ensure its implementation across the service groups and specialized units heads.
Ensure the provision of qualitative services to clients and eliminate/reduce service complaints in order to maintain a good image of the organization.
To ensure the operational profitability of service group operations.
Ensure compliance with relevant Health Safety and Environment policy requirements,
Review of operational controls and capacity requirement of the service groups and specialized units heads to ensure optimal utilization of resources and the capacity to meet clients’ requirements.
Monitor operational expenses for all service groups and specialized units heads in line with defined limits.
Improve Management and staff performance through training and provision of operational tools
Interpret and assess the impact of government regulations and policies on MDS operations and advice course of action to the managing director.
Work with government agencies to ensure adherence to government policies and regulations.
Follow-up all requirements/reports as contained in the compliance, and audit reports.
Review of contracts with service providers based on review with service group heads
Monitor performance of Third Party service providers which includes Security Companies, Cleaning Services, etc. at the Depots and ensure the safety of clients’ stocks and the enforcement of other safety standards.
Ensure service delivery with internal support departments to service group operations.
To ensure the efficient and effective coordination of the activities between the workshop operations and the transport service groups and specialized units heads.
Work with the Technical Operations Manager to implement a sound operational framework for the fleet.
Work with the technical unit to develop and train operational personnel on basic use and maintenance procedures for the vehicles.
Work with the haulage and distribution service heads to identify, select and recommend viable organizations to engage in Distribution venture partnerships.
To ensure service delivered by the venture partners are in line with service levels agree with the company’s clients.

Requirements
Minimum qualification of a first Degree in the Social Sciences or other Management/Business Studies, with at least ten(10) years post qualification experience in operations Management/Marketing/Sales.
