Job Title: Advocacy and Communication Officer

Objective 1
To organize stakeholders' participation, sensitization and advocacy at state levels.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Undertake a range of lobbying, communications and other activities to inform and persuade policymakers, including donors and politicians, of the value of financing for nutrition-sensitive and inclusive social protection with the support from the Manager.
Support the development of communications materials and participate in the review and comment on print and electronic media materials including scripts, posters, leaflets, video/audio recordings
To support the Kano state to develop the Social Protection Policy.
Produce briefing papers and presentations for internal and external audiences, as directed
Support policy dialogue and a successful record of accomplishment in advocacy and strategies for influencing policy decision-makers on social protection.
Support capacity building of government counterparts, mentoring and training on nutrition-sensitive and inclusive social protection programme in Kano State.
Organize field visits with Stakeholders to learn from a nutrition-sensitive social protection implementation.
Contribute to all efforts to raise/nurture CSOs and champions for the programme at the state and national level if the need arises.
Organize learning, knowledge sharing and capitalization workshops at State level to enable lessons learned to be used in future program design.
Objective 2
To document and share good practice from planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities at state level.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Organize learning, knowledge sharing and capitalization workshops at local level to enable lessons learned to be used in future program design in collaboration with the programme team
Maintain contact and other relevant information about key stakeholders and audiences involve in CDGP.
Share weekly activity report and monthly plan with line Manager
Support the Advocacy Manager in the timely dissemination of program information internally and externally.
Capture and share CDGP's images and videos for communication, reporting and other needs
Prepare press releases and press kits as requested in accordance to Action Against Hunger policy and under supervision of the Advocacy Manager.
Provide Coordination team with regular updates on the political policy developments in Kano State
Produce case studies and success stories related to the programme implementation at least one per quarter or as per the line manager's request.
Objective 3
To develop a communication plan, tools and materials to ensure successful program implementation of CDGP for various stakeholders
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of user-friendly cash transfer and nutrition educational materials for audiences with limited literacy levels.
Support DGP advocacy efforts through the development of appropriate communication messaging, materials and tools.
Perform additional activities as requested by the CDGP II Project Manager, Advocacy Manager and other members of the coordination team.
Objective 4
To represent ACF externally in relevant local and state-level forums and Technical Working Groups
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Develops strategic partnerships with key constituencies to elicit support for and maximize the impact of promotional objectives; serves as primary ACF external relations focal point for communications and advocacy liaison to media organizations, local and state-level stakeholders in consultation with the Field Co and Advocacy Manager.
In coordination with the Project Manager, participate in CDGP based technical discussion and sharing forums during the visit of other project stakeholders to the project sites.
Participate in planning, training and sharing forums as appropriate

Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Public Administration or Development/Communication Studies, Rural Development/ or other related fields.
Any training on Advocacy and Communication, social protection, Gender and Social Inclusion will be an added advantage
Skills & Experience
Essential:
At least 2 years of experience in advocacy and policy engagement
Previous experience with other local and international NGOs
Experience in Nutrition and community-based programmes,
Experience in Social protection and engaging Government
Should have strong collaboration and networking skills.
Experience using Political Economy Analysis (PEA) that informs on-going program iteration
Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
Fluency in English and Hausa, spoken and written
Ability to work in partnership with government and other NGO's staff
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work within a team setting
Independence, adaptability and flexibility
Excellent communication skills
Experience in photography
Preferred:
Experience in the International Non- Governmental Organization (INGO) and Humanitarian context
Experience in policy development and strategic communication.
Minimum Basic Salary
NGN236,585 Per month
