Job Title: Financial Controller
Location: Lagos
Role Purpose Statement
We are looking for a Financial Controller in our Lagos Nigeria- business unit (CSC), who reporting directly to the General Manager of the CSC and part of the local management team, ensures an efficient and effective financial planning, controlling, reporting, accounting (incl. billing / invoicing), tax, risk management and treasury in the CSC while supporting the major business objectives
Main Accountabilities
Business Strategy, Policies and Tools:
Implement the regional strategy in the CSC
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, the corporate and regional guidelines and policies. Develop CSC specific procedures based on it
Identify potential business risks and ensure corrective actions are taken
Finance and Controlling:
Prepare or generate the annual business plan/ budget, and the annual financial reporting in the CSC to both shareholders in line with defined processes. Initiate corrective actions if needed; where appropriate: Finalise statutory accounts
Prepare or generate the monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements/ reports of the CSC in line with internal and external requirements within the set time frames
Prepare or generate the monthly CSC forecast in line with defined processes
Generate the reports of the CSC and forward the results to the CSC management and Regional Finance and Controlling; generate reports and information based on ad-hoc request
Support CSC managers in monitoring the achievement of financial objectives. Initiate corrective actions if necessary in cooperation with CSC managers
Control the CSC capital investment budget activities
Ensure all tax activities are carried out and tax liabilities are optimised
Ensure an efficient and effective cash and treasury management for the CSC
Ensure the data quality and integrity of the CSC data in the Management Information System/ financial reporting system
Implement effective internal control processes in the CSC; ensure compliance with them in area of responsibility
Prepare and deliver financial studies, projections, analyses and feasibility studies in order to enable the management to take business decisions incl. capital expenditures
Develop specific CSC KPIs in co-operation with the manager
Ensure the efficient communication and co-operation within the CSC, within the Finance and Controlling network and with internal business partners
Initiate and lead CSC projects; participate or contribute in group wide and regional projects.
Leadership:
Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed
Guide, motivate and develop the direct and indirect (functional) reports within the HR policy
Plan, implement and control the cost budget in the area of responsibility, initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviations
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Educational requirement of BSc in Accounting or Finance from a reputable institution is mandatory; and preferable Masters in Finance is required
Certification from relevant body is mandatory (ICAN and/or similar certifications)
Minimum of 8 years in accounting/finance function including a minimum of 3 years business experience in Finance and Controlling
Managerial experience
Knowledge of international accounting standards and local accounting principles & regulations
Experience in working within an SAP based environment
Know how in controlling and in management information systems
Good understanding of the organization, products, technological and competitive environment
Business acumen
Analytical skills, presentation and communication skills, customer orientation
Fluent English
