Summary of Role
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) supports the work of the Company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) focusing on the establishment and optimization of day-to-day operations in the Company.
A senior management position, the role is for seasoned and qualified professional with visionary leadership skills in business development, project management, consulting, training, organizational development, strategic planning, and change management in managing the company's operations; willing and eager to take on risky and difficult assignments and driven by results.
The holder must be an accomplished leader and team builder with strong and consistent record of improving operational performance of projects. Has track record of demonstrated problem-solving capabilities with workout and turn-around skills enabling new business projects to be implemented.
Key Responsibilities
Managing the day-to-day operations of the Company within Nigeria, the West African territory and other international locations in accordance with the strategic plan and operating and capital budgets outlined from time to time by the Company.
Directing and coordinating all operations and activities in accordance with policies, goals and objectives established by the Chairman, Board of Directors and the management of the Company.
Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations with adherence to high ethical standards.
Assisting the MD/CEO, Chairman and the Board of Directors in developing and overseeing the implementation of long-term business strategies as well as fundraising ventures for the Company and participating in any expansion or restructuring activities (including investments, divestments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.) of the Company
Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with various governmental officials, regulatory agencies and partners to stay abreast of political, legislative, commercial and civil events that may impact on projects and establishing a professional image for the Company.
Build trust relations with key partners and stakeholders and act as a point of contact for important shareholders
Ensuring delivery of the key management reports with focus on operational and financial reporting as well as budgeting process management. Providing financial insight for day to day operations and coordination of relevant matters to ensure that proper decision-making takes place.
Supervise and control all strategic and business aspects of the company and responsible for giving the proper strategic direction as well as creating a vision for success.
Enforce adherence to legal guidelines and in-house policies to maintain the company’s legality and business ethics
Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth
Lead and motivate subordinates to advance employee engagement develop a high performing managerial team
Maintain a deep knowledge of the markets and industry of the company
Develop high quality business strategies and plans ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives
Planning and management of projects
Oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission
Manage revenue, expenses and external financing to maintain the consistent growth of the business
Ensure that expenditures of the Company are within the authorized annual budget of the Company
Identify and select Products/Technologies/Vendors/Service Providers/Tools to convert opportunities in to revenue streams and manage operations of system segment
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
Minimum 15 years of experience in an Executive/ Senior management position
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline or MBA
Exposure to international countries/organization will be advantage
Experience in an Engineering Products/Capital Equipment/Project based organization preferred.
Proven experience as senior managerial position within the Oil & Gas, Power, Water & Waste Water related industries will be an added advantage
Proven track records in the Operations Management
Proven track record in managing multiple operations department
Proven track record in developing and implementing operations system, policies, processes and procedures
Strong Project Management skills
Strong Resource Planning Skills
Strong Financial Management and budgeting skills
Internal Client Management Skills
In-depth understanding of process improvement and optimization disciplines, tools and techniques
Strong ability to balance between long- and short-term objectives
