Job Title: Assistant Producer - Drama

Job Purpose
The Assistant Producer - Drama will play a key role in the planning, production and post production of one of BBC Media Action’s Hausa-language radio dramas. The Assistant Producer - Drama will also assist in organising and conducting community outreach events featuring live drama segments.
Main Duties
Assist the team in content research that will help shape a BBC Media Action radio drama. Perform interviews, gather and collate research, and write up reports for the Producer - Drama and others in the Production & Training team.
Assist with all aspects of the writing process for the radio drama, including identification and contracting of writers, working with writers during writing workshops, ensuring writers meet deadlines, helping ensure delivery of all scripts for review by the Head of Production & Training, and assisting with all other logistics and documentation.
Assist with all aspects of the recording process for the radio drama, including identification and contracting of actors, helping ensuring scripts are ready for production, prepping actors for scenes, producing scenes as assigned, and working with the entire drama production team to ensure that recordings take place on schedule and to budget.
Assist with all aspect of post production of the radio drama, including editing episodes, cutting to time, assisting the technical engineers with sound design, and helping ensure final delivery of all episodes to meet deadlines.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Evidence of a strong interest in radio or TV dramatic production, either in previous work experience, academic studies or other areas.
Evidence of a passion for using drama to tell stories and impact lives.
Creative writing or technical skills, including storytelling, recording, editing, etc.
Evidence of ability to generate and implement creative ideas, either through writing, radio, TV, stage drama, or other creative platforms.
Excellent Hausa language skills are required for this position.
Ability to plan activities and stick to deadlines.
Ability to develop a high standard of editorial judgement.
Ability to keep an open mind on a range of diverse opinions and experiences, and to work closely with a diverse team.
The ability to cope with fast-changing situations within a pressurised environment.
A willingness to engage in team working and a high level of interpersonal skills.
The ability to originate and develop programme ideas.
