Role Summary
The Systems and Instrumentation representative is a key part of the operations team responsible for design, planning, execution, and troubleshooting of Asset Condition Monitoring Systems focused on meeting customer and business goals.
This position will be focused on systems and instrumentation (both project and reactive based) service dependent on the skills of the successful candidate and needs of the business.
Essential Responsibilities
Install and configure Bently Nevada Hardware and Software required for protecting and monitoring variety of machine types encountered in the Oil and Gas, Power Generation, Petrochemicals, Pulp and Paper, and other process industries
Ensure services jobs are executed in accordance with the cost allocations budgeted
Ensure services jobs are executed in a timely manner and in accordance with customers schedules
Understand and Adhere to jobs contractual commitments and Comply to company Safety, Quality and Integrity norms
Identify problems while on the job and take initiative to eliminate those problems for project success
Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment
Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance at customer’s sites
Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized industry standards for engineering ability
Maintain knowledge of applicable product line warranties, and accomplish effective warranty administration
Perform administrative functions; such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheet and expense sheets in timely manner
Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites
Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards
Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records
Perform installations, commissioning, and trouble-shooting of Bently Nevada Hardware and Software Products and Solutions at GE and customer locations
Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality
Support the growth initiatives of the business
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum four-year Bachelor of Engineering degree from an accredited college or university, Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering background or equivalent knowledge or experience
Must have at least 3+ years of post-qualification experience working in Oil and Gas instrumentation
Knowledge of Bently Nevada products and services or other machinery protection and management systems
Knowledge of rotating machinery operation and controls systems
Familiarity with tools including but not limited to: Bently Nevada TK-Series Test Kits, Thermocouple Calibrator, RTD Calibrator, handheld DMM, function generator, power supply, oscilloscope, basic hand tools (training available as needed)
Ability to use Data collection instrumentation & software’s such as ADRE, DM2000, MCM 2000, System 1 & Snapshot
Good knowledge on Electronics and/or Mechanical troubleshooting skills. Hands-on approach
Good Knowledge of Networking: Hardware and Protocols
Basic Knowledge of Modbus, OPC, NetDDE and serial communications (RS232, 422, 485)
A valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate will be required (please indicate clearly on your resume)
Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in Nigeria
Desired Characteristics:
Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel
Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; Experience working independently; Experience prioritizing, organizing work, and meeting deadlines
Experience reading, interpreting, and understanding mechanical and electrical prints
Basic familiarity with computer network systems
FEP program graduate is preferred (internal GE employees only)
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel
Ability to work under stressful working conditions
Available for extensive travel, up to 70%, and to work significant over-time
Possess a valid driver's license and passport (or able to obtain a passport)
