Objectives
WEWE is requiring a competent professional consulting firm to train staff on the use of STATA Statistical Package for data analysis
The course is designed to train participants to be professional data analysts. Although targeted at monitoring, evaluation, research and learning (MERL) staff, the course should be designed for participants without or with very little experience using STATA
It is expected that the consultant should capacitate the course participants to “talk” to STATA, import data to STATA, deal with missing data, manipulate data, run basic statistical routines, combine datasets, create communicative graphics, run regression models and present statistical results.
Scope of Work/Expectations
This STATA course is focused on persons who may have little or no Statistics or Mathematics background to analyze data in STATA, choose the right descriptive statistics technique and write up the result of the findings with confidence
The trainings should cover everything from entering data into STATA to interpreting the result and offer easy step-by-step guide to mastering descriptive and inferential statistics in STATA
The consulting firm should be able to take the trainees through the STATA interface, how to work the system and how to choose variable types and format in STATA
The training will include entering data into STATA, sorting, editing and data cleaning. Learn how to create graphs, plots and charts using STATA and how to manipulate them to suit individual needs.
The scope of work also includes how to use the following inferential statistic techniques:
Dataset from Raw Data: Using do-files, importing data (excel, CSV, public data source, e.g. DHS), Data cleaning, missing values, recoding, summarization, log files;
Data manipulation: Generating new variables, using the “by” command, creating dummy variables, combining data sets;
Summary and descriptive statistics, correlation, student t-test, cross-tabulations and Chi-square tests.
Graphics, including overlaying two graphs and combining two graphs.
Regression and Inferential Analysis
This is expected to be a 5-day in-house training
Qualifications
A successful consulting firm should have the following expertise and experience:
Minimum five to ten years of experience in designing, planning and facilitating training for development organizations.
Experience in STATA implementation and analysis.
Experience with USAID funded project
Working Relationships:
The consult firm will be expected to work in collaboration with WEWE M & E Director and specifically WEWE-LOPIN 2 M&E staff.
