Job Details
Investment Banking provides clients with a range of advisory and financing solutions. Specialising in high-growth emerging markets, our expert advisers work on mergers and acquisitions, capital restructurings and empowerment deals, as well as arranging finance for acquisitions, client projects and property transactions.
Job Purpose
To provide support for the:
Origination, structuring, execution and closing of all financing transactions undertaken within the Corporate Financing Solutions Unit and the larger Investment Banking Unit
Work in co-ordination with other team members towards achieving performance targets, ensure zero / minimal risk exposure to Stanbic IBTC Capital and Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC
Assist in coaching colleagues of similar or junior grade and
Participate in marketing efforts / initiatives for enhancing fee income from ancillary business.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Assist in the origination and execution of transactions for both existing and prospective clients;
Assist in developing financial advisory and or debt arranging mandates for identified opportunities;
Lead the transaction execution process until deal completion. Tasks include: financial model development/review, term sheet preparation, risk assessment, legal documentation, CP fulfillment and pay-away.
To negotiate pricing and required financing arrangements with clients
To build and maintain sound working relationships both internally (with colleagues) and externally with market participants and clients.
Assist in syndication efforts/initiatives on client transactions. Including management presentations, road shows etc.
Working in conjunction with other team members for putting forward innovative financing solutions to clients;
Liaise and assist in driving ancillary revenues by engaging with other teams (on an ongoing basis). Such teams include Credit, Transactional product services, Finance, Business Banking, Global Markets etc.;
Establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with existing and potential clients
Preparing files as to be ready for the annual audit process and assist in discussing, responding and reacting to comments raised by the Audit division;
Assist the Unit Head in managing day-to-day work as delegated and carrying out other duties as required by the job;
Ensure that the policies, procedures and processes of the bank are being followed;
Coaching of junior colleagues to ensure they are motivated and are able to support the team objectives.
The job holder will have execution oversight responsibility on transactions and where applicable, may be required to deliver on transaction mandates with limited resource support.
In addition, job holder will have delegated supervisory responsibility in the administration of the unit to deliver on set goals.
Preferred Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge
It would be an advantage for the job holder to have at least a Masters Degree in a Finance / Business / Economics related discipline, however this is not deemed a prerequisite for effectively undertaking the role - a professional related qualification would also suffice;
Experience:
The job holder should have a minimum of eight years of finance related experience, preferably from a banking background;
An understanding of lending (risk mitigation process and pricing of loans)
Deep experience in leading transactions to Financial Close
Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise:
The technical skills required for the role includes: transaction risk assessment, credit evaluation skills and transaction management skills. Others are:
