Job Title: Deputy Chief of Party
Location: Abuja, Nigeria with frequent travel to Maiduguri, Nigeria
Reports To: Chief of Party
Type: Regular, Full-Time Employee
Classification: This is a managerial, exempt level position
Overview
- IBTCI is currently seeking a Deputy Chief of Party. To be based in Abuja, Nigeria with frequent travel to Maiduguri, Nigeria. This is a full time-time positions with regional travel. It also includes remote management of data collection teams in Nigeria.
- The project will establish and undertake independent monitoring of US-government-funded programs in northeast Nigeria, and aims to increase the donor and its partners’ understanding of the outputs, progresses, challenges, successes, and lessons learned of selected projects. This position is contingent upon award.
Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide overall technical design, data analysis and reporting writing direction to the project team.
- Manage the technical implementation of the project.
- Ensure deliverables represent the outcomes of sound, ethical and verifiable data collection and analysis.
- Travel is essential, and may include travel to fragile and conflict-affected areas. An average of 25% to 35% travel for project implementation and/or project management of business development initiatives. (Percentages may vary depending IBTCI business needs).
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position does have supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in the humanitarian, transition, or development field; with two of the last five years managing teams.
- At least one year of experience in conflict zones.
- Must have previous experience providing technical support to third party monitoring projects or Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) support projects, or evaluations.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in International Affairs, Social Science, Statistics or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Previous experience conducting quantitative and qualitative field research in conflict zones.
- Proven ability implementing programs in Africa desired.
- Demonstrated experience designing monitoring and verification systems or other rigorous qualitative and quantitative research designs.
- Previous experience implementing third party monitoring projects, M&E support projects, or evaluations.
- Prior experience in data analysis and report writing.
- Proven experience managing local staff.
- Previous experience with managing sub-contractors is highly desirable.
- Oral and written proficiency in Arabic desirable.
Working Environment:
- Work is typically performed in an office environment, with some time spent in the field.
Physical Requirements:
- This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.
- Travel: International travel required.
