Job Description
The Registrar is a Principal Officer responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative activities of the University
The Registrar carries a huge responsibility in providing leadership for team-work and joint efforts in achievement of the goals of the University
He/she shall be the Secretary to the Council, Senate, Convocation, Congregation and other statutory bodies as defined by the University Law.
The Candidate
A candidate for the post of Registrar shall be a successful manager of human and material resources. Specifically, the candidate shall be expected to:
Be a person of proven integrity and strong moral character;
Be computer literate;
Be not more than sixty (60) years old as at the date of possible assumption of duty;
Have considerable administrative experience and qualities of a good manager of human and material resources to provide a world class administrative support;
Be capable of giving dynamic administrative leadership while building strong and positive relationships with staff students, other members of the University community and the State government;
Be a person who is not likely to pursue racial, ethnic, political, religious or other sectional interest;
Be a team player with ability to delegate and instil confidence in others and command the loyalty and respect ofpeople.
Be a person with a clear vision for the development of the University Registry in the context of the University's philosophy of a "Developmental University";
Enjoy excellent physical and mental health.
Qualifications
A good honours Degree (not below Second Class Honours) and a Masters Degree from a recognized University
Possession of a higher Degree and membership of a recognized relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
Experience:
The candidate must be a Deputy Registrar in a University and must have at least ten (10) years post qualification cognate experience
Applicant must have been a Deputy Registrar in a University for a minimum of five(5) years.
Salary
CONTISS 15.
Terms and Conditions of Service
The tenure of office of the Registrar shall be for a single term of five (5) years only on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
The remuneration and other conditions of service shall be as approved by the Governing Council but comparable to those applicable to the post of Registrar of other public universities in Nigeria.
