Job Description
We are looking for an exciting Marketing and Communications Manager to lead the design, development, and execution of our communications strategy and programs. He/She will support the various business teams and fulfil a variety of communications objectives in content creation and development, media and public relations, corporate communications, digital and social media, audience analytics and project management.
The ideal candidate has strong writing, organizational, people, and project-management skills, as well as an understanding of and appreciation for digital media, design and the content-creation process. He/She can easily adapt and flourish in a start-up and fast-growing environment.
The successful candidate must be a natural leader, proactive, creative, entrepreneurial and loves everything digital.
The successful candidate will design, plan, execute and track progress towards the execution of a robust communications plan in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Provide input to the design, development and execution of a robust communications program, end-to-end. Accountable for program delivery activities and outputs toward achievement of targeted outcomes and goals.
Work with design and marketing agencies to develop and execute the communications and marketing plan. Ensure all marketing collateral are of high quality and impactful.
Develop a community database of stakeholders and influencers media, journalists, tech bloggers, government, NOs, large corporations, Tech Communities, institutional investors, etc, across Nigeria and other key international markets. Convert them to subscribers and/or supporters, provide meaningful and timely updates
Manage select communications efforts, including the creation, editing, and production of digital, web and social content, emails and newsletters
Compose written material for diverse audiences, across a variety of channels
Manage media analytics platform to target influencers, analyze trends and campaign effectiveness and report learnings.
Provide media relations support for audiences that are both internal and external to the firm, including on a national and international scale.
Develop and research ideas for written publication/communication on high visibility complex topics.
Research, develop, execute and manage high-profile written communication that demonstrates understanding of a wide variety of audiences; clearly and credibly communicates a diverse array of topics; and enhances the relevance and impact of intended messaging.
Produce innovative written and multimedia content that s hare the firms research, ideas and news and stories for a variety of channels.
Partner with internal stakeholders such as the leadership team, program teams, and commercial teams to achieve program goals and ensure coordination, and work with internal and external customers to understand the need and purpose of a project.
Attend and cover priority events for the firm.
Track program expenses and ensure they are within budget.
Other duties may also be assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business, Social Sciences or other relevant field from a reputable university.
At least three years experience in a digital media, journalism, public relations or communications role, deep and demonstrated understanding of digital technology and content creation a nd distribution.
High level of comfort conceptualizing and working with diverse sets o f content, digital platforms, and a variety of storytelling methods, and ability to change voice and editing/writing style to fit a particular audience and purpose.
Firm understanding of web technologies and applications, including social networking, social media tools and current communication trends.
Excellent writing, interpersonal and oral communication skills with proven ability to present, write, edit, and organize thoughts in a clear, concise, and well-organized manner, and work effectively with a diverse array of people, including senior leaders.
Ability to work with technology to improve workflow and increase efficiency.
Strong visual sense and ability to select and assess photography, illustrations, informational graphics, video and other design-related elements for editorial products.
