We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Centre Animator Volunteer
Location: Borno
Job Description
The PSS Volunteer facilitates the day to day psychosocial support service activities with children at school.
The PSS Volunteer supports teachers in the implementation of psychosocial and recreational activities.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Co-animate and support children’s play and recreational activities as per the work schedules set in consultation with the PSS Workers and PSS Team Leader
Facilitate the provisions of age and gender-specific psychosocial and life skills activities
Ensure a safe and child friendly atmosphere within the recreational space and that children feel comfortable, safe and respected in the child friendly space
Ensure a variety of structured, local and traditional games and activities cater to the needs of children of different age, genders and abilities
Ensure the children participation and input form the basis of the activities
Be a positive role model and demonstrate conflict solving behaviours
Ensure daily attendance registration of children participating in the psychosocial and recreational activities
Conduct weekly feedback session with children on the psychosocial support activities implemented
Identify cases of vulnerable and at-risk children and refer to the case worker for support and referral
Inform the PSS Team Leader of challenges faced in doing the work and if additional support is needed
Monitor that children experiencing distress have improved their emotional well-being and has positively re-engaged in social relations
Submit weekly progress reports and plans to the PSS Team Leader
Ensure that children feel comfortable, motivated, safe, and respected within their community and at the recreational, educational, and psychosocial activities
Participate in training workshops and thematic exercises on the Child Protection-related themes as per needs identified
Inform line manager of challenges faced in doing the work, and if additional support is needed;
Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and ensure child safeguarding concerns are reported and followed up;
Perform other tasks as assigned by the line manager
Other:
Fully comply with CHAD Code of Conduct and ensure Child Safeguarding Policy is upheld at all times
Ensure adherence to CHAD standards and quality requirements in all the project activities.

Qualifications/ Requirements
Completion of secondary school or its equivalent
Initial work experience in fields related to child protection
Understands key elements of the community based care and protection mechanisms
Works within a framework of clearly understood humanitarian values and ethics.

Experience in working with children
Knowledge of best practices in child protection
