Job Title: Consultant - Training on Business Planning, Record Keeping, Micro Enterprise Management and Agricultural Practices
Location: Borno
Objective
The objective of the training program is to help the vulnerable households affected by the conflict to restart their traditional livelihoods such as agriculture and income generating activities. The training includes the following areas:
Generating business ideas: identifying, screening and selecting business ideas
Business management: networking, negotiation, bargaining, terms
Business finance: budget, cash flow management, profit and loss, balance sheet
Personal Financial Management and Planning: managing the use of profits for personal use.
Record keeping: basic record keeping skills and develop simple record keeping templates for different businesses
Business planning: business planning and develop simple business planning template
Linkages to micro finance institutions
Good Agricultural Practices, value chain development and marketing agricultural produce.
Scope of Work
The consultant will provide support in training livelihood beneficiaries of NJR4, GIZ and OFDA projects in Borno State.
He/she will apply the use of stories, simulation, games, facilitation, reflection, role play, drawings and play methods suitable for adult illiterate learners.
In addition, he/she will encourage the beneficiaries to participate using live demonstrations, innovative and interactive practical exercises.
The consultant can engage the support of a facilitator to support with conducting the trainings.
Responsibilities
The following will also be put into consideration:
The recommended class set size for each training should be between 30 to 50 people.
Time table will combine all modules into suitable number of days of 6 hours per day including breaks.
Each set of participants will be drawn from beneficiaries that are involved in the same or similar lines of business.
Lead trainer will be engaged for the duration of the training including days for report writing and material/resources preparation.
Group of women/men involved in related businesses will be supported to select leaders who already have some business experiences and aptitude. These leaders can be trained as ToT and organized to serve as community business mentors and coaches, this will enhance sustainability (there is a committee created by the previous SCI project, they can also be integrated in to this aspect).
Facilitate the training based on the agreed agenda, training objectives and outputs.
Prepare a final report of the consultancy that includes assessment of participant evaluations.
Deliverables
The Consultant(s) will provide:
Training schedule/ agenda and training materials
Training the registered households
Provide a template for financial tracking
Provide template for beneficiary’s record keeping.
Develop training guidelines
An inception report which details the methodology/approaches and timelines associated with this consultancy and outlines a draft agenda for the training sessions.
The final agreed agenda for the training and the full complement of training materials
The final report on the training including a thorough evaluation of the training sessions.
Qualifications
Postgraduate degree in a related field;
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in developing and facilitating livelihood training
Provide examples of training materials previously developed;
