Job Purpose
- The individual will orchestrate data governance activities for Enterprise Data Management program across multiple business units and requires a strong understanding of policies, standards and processes focused on defining and managing risks and opportunities in the use of data –along with proven expertise in the administration of an enterprise governance program, collaborative communications across a variety of stakeholders and deep knowledge of the banking industry.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Create awareness, develop and enforce data policies and standards:
- Lead the development, management, communication and enforcement of Acceptable Data Use governance program to define and manage risks and opportunities in the use of data across all lines of business.
- Direct and manage meetings or discussions required for administration of program which includes gaining consensus across a variety of stakeholders and documenting acceptable data use decisions.
- Identify controls, potential control gaps and weaknesses for compliance with applicable laws, regulations and policies to include implementing remediation fixes.
Align Data Management initiatives with Data Governance best practices:
- Support and supervise information stewardship activities and management of data quality, retention and uses.
- Support project planning and data management to ensure best practice and legal frameworks are followed with regards to data governance
- Continually assess and identify risks in line with the risk management approach, ensuring they are mitigated and accounted for work within the data governance programme.
Co-ordinate all RDARR data initiatives in country:
- Maintain data standards, definitions, and models (e.g. data dictionary, organizational data model. This may also include any DQA documents such as checklists, guidelines, manuals, templates, forms, etc.)
- Ensure all RDARR queries and tasks are attended to timeously.
- Embed RDARR best practices across all business units.
Define data controls and measurements:
- Coordinates with operational and reporting data stewards to create data controls, identify measurement and definitions, and manage using dashboards.
- Maintains ongoing communication with Data Stewards to ensure critical data issues are communicated timely for remediation.

- Consultation on specific Legal and Regulatory issues

- Consultation on specific issues and Audit Findings relating to organisational Data Management Issues.

- IT architecture alignment to Business Architecture
Ops Control:
- Reporting on operational risks
- Reporting
CIB, PBB and Wealth Business Improvement and Support:
- Provide guidance and expertise on integration projects and production issues
- Delivery of quality solutions
Business Partners:
- Produce dashboards and/or reports to represent data quality levels, recommendations and progress on any initiatives underway.

- Data providers of Client and other reference data
Industry Forums:
- Networking and keeping abreast of industry news/developments.
Preferred Qualification and Experience
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Information Systems or Business Administration. Master’s degree in related field is desirable..
- Data Management qualifications would be an advantage
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with providing data governance function and operations.
- 5 years’ experience working at an enterprise level with customer and reference data.
- 5+ years’ experience in the Banking Industry
- Basic knowledge in Data Governance Methodology
- Basic understanding of company law & banking practices
- Basic understanding of regulatory requirements e.g. FICA, FATCA, RDARR etc.
- 3-4 years exeprience in Risk Management Standards and Policies
- 3-4 years exeprience in Risk Management Regulatory Risk
- 3-4 years exeprience in Information Technology Data Management
Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise
Knowledge of Financial Markets:
- Competency Description: Proven knowledge and understanding of financial markets pertinent to Nigeria
Knowledge of Operations Management:
- Competency Description: Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the Operations environment, products, methodologies and frameworks
Key systems and applications:
- Competency Description: Must be proficient in key systems.
Risk Management:
- Competency Description: Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of risk management methodologies, tools, governance structures and regulatory requirements for good management of risk.
Quality Control:
- Competency Description: The ability to implement operational techniques and activities that are used to fulfil requirements for quality including; improvement, control, management or assurance of quality.
