Operations: a range of essential and complex services to ensure processes across the bank work as effectively and efficiently as possible
Job Purpose
To select, interrogate, interpret and present appropriate customer data in order to tactically find ways to inform and influence business decisions based on vital statistical evidence.
To develop and present standard and bespoke analytics reports based on business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Business MI needs analysis:
Engages with the business to obtain a comprehensive understanding of business goals, challenges and processes and their impact on the data life cycle.
Identifies opportunities through which insights and analytics/MI can assist in addressing business challenges, and present these to relevant stakeholders and implement.
Identifies business opportunities in support of the business initiatives through analysis of the business management information that may reside inside or outside the business.
Measures:
Approved and signed off BRDs for all new report developments
Stakeholder feedback
Number of reworks of developed reports
Perform data analysis:
Determines data needed to be collected and the appropriate data sources for reports requested by business stakeholders.
Works with relevant stakeholders in Enterprise Data Office and IT to identify appropriate data sources and the possible integration of multiple data sources thereof to support defined business specifications.
Formulates techniques for quality data analysis to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data.
Troubleshoots data error issues and drive remediation with data quality management team.
Reviews identified data for inconsistencies or anomalies that could skew analytical results.
Measures:
Level of accuracy of reporting outputs as determined by stakeholder feedback
Successful remediation of data issues identified during data analysis
Reconciliation to trusted sources of data
Sign off on data testing as required
Implementation of business models and analytics
Produce management information using available tools
Performs aggregation of data to identify patterns in the data which translate into key findings.
Uses data visualization tools to generate graphical representations that answer business questions and influence decision making.
Ensures credibility of available data received to support agreed upon business measures or KPIs.
Develops code and reporting processes that are robust, but versatile and easy to change in support of evolving business requirements.

Relationships
Data Enablement:
Nature of relationship: Receive a service from them
Description or examples: Provides the team with data required in order to fulfil the requirements of stakeholders. Responsible for ensuring that the data enablement team sources all data requirements at the appropriate level of detail as determined by the BRD.
CIB, PBB and Wealth:
Nature of relationship: Provide a service to them
Description or examples: Provides reports and dashboards to the different business areas as required. Responsible for collaborating with business representatives to gather requirements and translate these into business solutions through generation of dashboards and reports.
Country MI teams:
Nature of relationship: Influence their service delivery
Description or examples: Collaborates with country teams to validate data and roll out consolidated MI. Responsible for assisting country teams with the MI solution and influencing the teams to adopt a single source of data.
Preferred Qualification and Experience
Qualification:
B Degree in Commerce, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field
Data Management qualifications would be an advantage
Experience:
Data Management - Management
5-7 Years experience in customer data and information life-cycle, including product, sales, customer segmentation, channel, performance measurement, and scorecards.
Experience in managing stakeholders and providing a high level of customer service.
Understanding of data and BI technologies and practices is required.
Experience in the management of asset products and the management of the risks thereof is ideal.
Basic understanding of the banking industry, balance sheet and income statement components and their relationship to business performance

Competency Description: The ability to build, analyse and interpret numerical and non-numerical data to determine potential risk exposure and statistical inferences to inform business decisions
