Job Title: Marketing Events Manager
Location: Lagos
Reports to: Senior Marketing, Digital Media and Communications Manager
Job Profile
To support the marketing brand and commercial teams with event related projects and/or tasks in the planning and execution for all internal and external events.
The incumbent is responsible for executing on strategic objectives, timelines and financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
Work with Senior Managers, Marketing and Vice President, Marketing & Industry Events to support formulation and execution of short- and long-term organizational, and event-related marketing plans and budgets.
Track budget costs throughout the course of project and communicate scope changes that affect budget to the teams in a clear manner
Create marketing events plans and execute plans to promote the company's events to include signature events and other events as they are created.
Stay knowledgeable of digital marketing promotions and implement new tools as appropriate.
Work collaboratively with internal teams to create a synergistic and energizing team environment to include:
Measuring results of promotions and adapting plans as needed
Implement supporting technology such as mobile event applications, event websites, digital advertising, and email broadcast campaigns, etc.
Work collaboratively with external production resources to develop and coordinate effective promotional/marketing materials.
Tasks include
Project Management:
Lead internal and external project debriefs
Handle the marketing project schedule.
Coordinate marketing efforts with education program managers and logistical team members.
Manage budgets by planning, tracking and balancing actuals.
Marketing Copy Writing, Editing and Proofing:
Develop copy for electronic and print marketing and advertising collateral.
Write, edit and proof web copy for consistency of content and quality with other marketing media.
Website Marketing Tools and Resources:
Coordinate site production schedule to include information organization, program content, graphics, photography and event value and overall brand impression from the web visitor experience.
Ensure consistency and quality of content with other marketing media.
Design Production:
Coordinate production schedule, including comps and delivery with internal graphic designer.
Advertising:
Identify opportunities for print, electronic and event calendar placements and media barters to include managing relationships with industry publications.
Write ad copy.
Coordinate production schedule and delivery.
Performance Tracking & Data Analysis:
Develop planning tools; i.e. budget tracking, project timeline, production schedules, event specs, meeting agendas and notes, etc.
Provide attendee analysis for previous events and reports.
Strategize target audiences based on marketing automation results.
Track and update e-marketing digital statistics.
Measure progress of marketing plan goals.
Track Google analytics.
Track advertising and mailing successes.
Cross Promotion:
Identify internal and external opportunities to promote the company and its programs and the company's events.
Coordinate promotion through other departments.
Develop cross promotional copy and collateral.
Support work on market condition analyses; support member research data analyses; support the company's marketing/promotions activities; help identify trends and opportunities; and, contribute to recommendations for initiatives and programs.
Support identification and pursuit of opportunities for promotion of the company through a variety of marketing vehicles.
Support department relationships with outside resources and agencies.
Key requirements
Bachelor’s degree with a postgraduate, preferably in Marketing, Media and Communication.
Minimum of five years’ relevant professional experience in Brand or Project
Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in the media space
Management experience within a broadcasting / media company or digital / creative agency, ideally gained with an international brand.
First class track record of strategic and commercial development of market leading brands, in-depth understanding of advertising sales process including planning and traffic, as well as extensive experience in commercial modelling
Proven experience of managing teams to measurable commercial success. This person will be able to encourage and support the production of exceptional creative content
Exceptional communication skills, the ability to adapt communication styles and high impact presentation skills
Willingness to travel throughout Africa and International markets
Ability to develop good working relationships internally and externally
Strong commercial acumen and budget management skills as well as ability to consolidate information to a succinct level
Experience with advertising, distribution and sponsorship sales, experience of commercial development in Africa and International markets and ability to develop, evaluate and recommend business options and deal structures
Solid eventing and media production experience.
Strong affinity with marketing through Digital/Social Media.
Proficient Microsoft office skills
High levels of organisation, with strong planning skills and the ability to prioritise a large workload according to changing business requirements.
Must be organised and have the ability to work across times zones
Must be able to prioritise events and marketing requirements from a variety of sources
Must be able to identify potential conflicts.
Excellent project management skills and considerable experience in managing all aspects of large, complex marketing events projects.
Must be able to work under continual deadline constraints.
Must have proven experience of managing and tracking budgets.
Line management experience necessary.
Personality Profile:
The ideal candidate should actively express entrepreneurial spirit by identifying new business, translate these into business cases and pitch to the management team; continuously expand professional network and leverage from it (target audiences, entertainment, marketing etc.); stay abreast of trends, ratings and developments within the media landscape.
They should have experience of 360 consumer and trade campaigns, organizing exhibitions and events and working with external agencies, suppliers, partners and talent.
A thorough understanding of the niche and industry landscape across Africa.
