Job Title: Food Security Officer
Location: Damasak, Borno
Job Description
In light of the displacement in the north eastern part of Nigeria, NRC is about to start up an emergency response programme in Nigeria to respond to the humanitarian needs.
In the coming months, the main focus for NRC would be conflict affected populations including IDPs, returnees and the local communities in Borno State.
NRC will initially be starting activities in the area of food security, water and sanitation, ICLA and shelter/NFI sectors.
NRC is therefore seeking a Food Security Officer in Dikwa, Borno, Nigeria. The Food Officer reports to the Food Security Coordinator.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Generic Responsibilities:
Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
Ensure proper filing of documents
Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and accordance with the procedures
Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
Investigate and facilitate introduction of new technology, method and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities
Specific Responsibilities:
Coordinate the food security activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans
Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements
Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans
Coordinate with relevant partners working in the same implementation areas
Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures
Supervise, train and develop team of food assistants
Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents as required
Investigate and facilitate introduction of new technology, methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience of project implementation in humanitarian/recovery contexts;
Degree in Agricultural Field or any related field.
Knowledge on Microsoft office excel, word, power point e.t.c
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile;
Fluency in English, both written and verbal;
Fluency in Kanuri would be an added advantage
