Job Title: Nutrition Program Manager
Location: Damaturu, Yobe
Job Summary
Reporting to Multi-sectoral Program Manager, the Nutrition Program Manager will be based in Damaturu and will be responsible for overall management of Nutrition Programs (CMAM, IYCF and MNCHW) as well as planning and assessment of additional nutrition activities in Yobe state as required.
He/she will also be involved in recruiting and training program staff on activities related to nutrition in collaboration with the Nutrition Team as well as reporting and representation.
The Nutrition Program Manager will also support with the Nutrition Team and Coordinator in conducting formal training session with local government area nutrition and technical team in all aspect of managing acute malnutrition.
Responsibilities and Duties
Ensure strong linkages with State and LGA authorities in planning, and decision making in all relational nutritional activities (trainings, assessments, rehabilitation, etc.) in collaboration with the Nutrition Coordinator.
Provide joint technical support to the hospital staff in the Stabilization Center (SC) and the health facilities staffs for the running of OTP activities. This is to be done with a counterpart in hospital and health facilities to ensure the existence of capacities to coach at LGA and health facility levels.
Follow-up on recommendation provided by SQUEAC evaluations and other documents for improvement of program impact.
Ensure the use of communication materials (such as posters, banners, pamphlets, radio messaging, etc.) to support activities implementation.
Organize and support implementation and monitoring of IYCF activities to ensure approach is adapted/documented throughout the process.
Ensure timely 3-months logistics order, procedures and follows up of supplies with the logistics department.
Define overall CMAM implementation plan in collaboration with LGA/Ward/health facility personnel for all components of CMAM.
Validate all documents and reports in collaboration with Nut Coordinator before dissemination to partners, including supplies orders, adhoc assessment reports, etc.
Represent Action Against Hunger Nigeria Mission in national or regional meetings, particularly with regards to potential regional crises.
Requirements
The successful candidate will;
Have Bachelor's degree in Medical Sciences, preferably in Nutrition or Public Health. Master’s degree preferred.
Have a minimum of three years relevant work experience managing CMAM nutrition programs.
Fluent English and Hausa preferably.
Be professional, motivated, creative, flexible and culturally sensitive.
Have excellent human resource management, leadership and motivation/training skills
Be organized, pay attention to detail including time management.
Be disciplined and able to work autonomously and arrive at decisions and conclusions with minimal guidance.
Have advanced knowledge of donors’ guidelines/procedures in humanitarian and recovery settings.
Have significant experience in recovery and project management.
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Be approachable, diplomatic and able to work effectively in diverse, cross-cultural teams in a complex, multi-site work environment.
Be computer literate including having knowledge of Microsoft office programs.
Strong capacity to represent Action Against Hunger and sustain relations with state and local stakeholders.
