Director of Works at Kaduna Polytechnic

Kaduna Polytechnic was established as Technical Institute in 1956 and became a full- fledged Polytechnic in April, 1968 vide Decree No. 20 of the same year. The Institution was, taken over by the Federal Government vide Decree No. 40 of 1991 and currently operates under the Federal Polytechnics Act, as amended in 2004.

Job Title: Director of Works

Location: Kaduna

Job Description

• The Director of Works is responsible to the Rector for the overall control of Works and Services Department.
• He provides strategies for the provision of efficient services in line with the Institutional goals.
• He advises the Rector on the acquisition of assets for the Polytechnic and also plans the operation of plants and machinery as well as the maintenance of buildings in the constituent units of the Polytechnic.
• He is expected to prepare the Works Department budget and exercise budgetary control. He ‘keeps inventory of the Polytechnic vehicles and responsible for their maintenance.

Requirements

• Must be a holder of good honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building or Architecture, from a recognized University.
• Must be registered with relevant professional bodies.
• Masters degree will be an added advantage.
• Must have at least 17 years post qualification cognate experience.
• Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
• Must not be more than 60 years of age at the time he/she assumes duty.

Terms of Appointment
The appointment is career appointment. The salary and other conditions of service are as approved by the Federal Government.
