Job Description
The Finance Controller is to be responsible for the day to day operation of the treasury, statutory and tax, payroll and accounts payable functions ensuring timely delivery at high quality within the budget plan.
The individual must have strong strategic and entrepreneurial skills, in terms of innovation and problem solving, strong team working, motivation of team members and commitment.
The finance controller is to report to the Finance Director.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this office shall include but is not limited to the following:
Ensuring compliance with all current direct and indirect tax legislation through systems evaluation, review, implementation, monitoring and liaison with external advisors
Administration of the company’s payroll obligations
Ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements pertaining to financial statement reporting
Providing commercial and financial reporting services to the local organisation ensuring that reliable category, overhead, and balance sheet information is produced, evaluated and communicated to facilitate planning and control and decision making
Implementation of necessary security and internal controls
Management and control of the Treasury function in line with Global policy
Ensure compliance with the company’s global accounting and other standards
Engineer process improvements within the finance department, to maximise reporting quality, integrity and turnaround times
Responsible for fixed cost monitoring, evaluation and control
Liaison between the company and the external audit team
To investigation and identification of areas of potential savings .
Ensuring excellent liaison and correspondence with the local revenue authorities with all prompt submission of all reports requested by them
To ensure compliance with all tax legislation affecting the business
Management of the accounts payable and receivable teams as wells the corporate travel card facility
Management of the treasury function of the company and administration of the company’s bank accounts
Management of the dividend process
Modelling of core values and vision to the subordinates and emphasis of compliance on their part
Effective utilisation of people resources in accordance with the company culture
Qualifications and Experience
Must have a professional accounting degree (ICAN/ACMA)
Must have at least five to eight years post qualification experience preferably in the FMCG sector
Must have strong exposure/working knowledge of ERP systems (J.D. Edwards preferably), HFM (Hyperion), ICE (COGNOS), and Microsoft Office Tools
Strong project management skills
Must have an in-depth understanding of financial function process
Must have strong understanding of business process and operations preferably FMCG
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work under pressure with special attention to meeting specified time dead lines
Energetic with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
Must be fluent in English
Must have high level problem solving skills with pragmatic approach to responsibilities
