AED has been awarded the USAID-funded Malaria Action Program for States (MAPS) project designed to support the Nigeria National Malaria Strategic Plan and National MAlaria Control Program (NMCP). The project will increase the quality, access, and uptake of specific malaria control interventions, including insecticide-treated nets (ITNs), artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs), expanded use of rapid diagnostic tests (RDs), and delivery of intermittent preventive treatment (IPTp) to pregnant women.

AED Nigeria  is currently recruiting candidates to fill a number of exciting positions with the Malaria Action Program for States (MAPS) Project in Abuja as well as state offices in Zamfara, Cross River, and Nassarawa. Available positions include:

Information Technology Specialist

The Information Technology (IT) Specialist will install and set-up operating systems, trouble-shoot issues with equipment, back-up server, and other tasks as described below.

Essential Job Functions

1. Assist with office set-up of new computers.
2. Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
3. Monitor the performance of computer systems.
4. Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable, operating systems, and appropriate software.
5. Maintain record of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial action taken, and installation activities.
6. Read technical manuals, confer with users, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support.
7. Confer with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
8. Develop training materials and procedures, and/or train users in the proper use of hardware and software.
9. Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
10. Evaluate of software or hardware, and recommend improvements or upgrades.
11. Inspect equipment and read order sheets to prepare for delivery to users.
12. Modify and customize commercial programs for internal needs.
13. Answer users' inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolve problems.
14. Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors.
15. Develop and maintain user and technical documentation related to the IT Operations area.

Experience

1. Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
2. Minimum three years experience in IT operations roles in a networked client/server environment.

Specific Knowledge Requirements

1. Knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods; systems testing and evaluation principles, methods, and tools; IT security principles and methods; Internet technologies; and/or emerging information technologies.
2. An ability to prioritize and organize work effectively.
3. Excellent investigative and problem solving abilities.
4. Perform other duties as assigned. Strong written and oral skills in English.
