Job Title: Sales Manager - Western Africa

Position Purpose
Western Africa represents a key market in Provimi SSA’s growth Strategy within Sub Sahara Africa (SSA) Region. This position will assist in executing a commercial role in prospect development and key account management by delivering nutritional solutions to the animal feed industry in Nigeria.
Nigeria is the 2nd largest market in SSA after South Africa. CPN SSA’s ambition is to be a market leader in Nigeria and this position will be a key factor is the successful roll-out of this strategy.
This position is a sales position that requires interfacing with commercial management, product management as well as other functional areas within the organization in order to service and expand offerings at customers and mostly build new business in the Nigerian market.
Responsibilities
90% Commercial:
Continuously seeks, identifies, suggests and implements ways to grow the business and improve margin as well as ways to improve current commercial approach and practices
Deep understanding of market (Nigeria & Ghana)having a good helicopter view to create networks
Strong commercial vision to execute our strategy (aligned with the 5 Big Goals)being able to translate this in local language in developing markets
Strategic view on market development and on next steps to guarantee sustainable growth
Specific focus on Spence 3-5 & Mila 4-6 with service offering aligned for these specific segments.
Ownership of Cargill Sales Framework and Sales Excellence to implement.
Partners with cross-functional stakeholders in SSA (SMT, Supply Chain, RMS)to align on formulation, technical support, Strategic Pricing, Customer Service, etc.
Provide first-line technical support to ensure a basic nutritional dialogue to minimize delay in getting ground support from SSA Technical Team.
Very strong connectivity capabilities with other Cargill BU in the area (Cocoa & Chocolate) to leverage advantages of the Greater Cargill and ensure CPN is still represented as the trusted advisor within the feed industry.
Supports in the preparation and evaluation of commercial growth proposals when required.
Be responsible for the forecasting and reporting of weekly sales volumes/gross margin, monthly business development reviews and develop detailed targeted and Key Account plans.
Manages and suggest ways to improve current commercial approach and practices.
Supports in the preparation and evaluation of commercial growth proposals when required.
Support supply chain efficiency by setting up distribution channels and assisting with logistics and product registrations
Positions Cargill’s defined portfolio of products/services for most favorable opportunities by presenting the company’s capabilities and solutions.
Utilizes cross functional support to assess competitor capabilities along with comparisons to business’s capabilities to determine gaps and to position account offerings against competitive options.
10% Fiduciary Role:
Ensures compliancy to local and CAN principles
Champion and comply to Cargill’s Guiding Principles
Best practice sharing with relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
Relevant Tertiary education (Animal Nutrition/Veterinary Science) or having relevant industry experience
5 years of progressive sales management experience
Proven track record of delivering business growth in premix/nutritional solutions
Strong commercial and negotiation skills
A strong, independent team player
Ideally deep understanding of local/regional market dynamics
Previous exposure to managing sales professionals will be advantageous
Entrepreneurial self-starter and team player
Structured approach to day to day activities
Ability to operate within a matrix organization
Ability to deal with tight deadlines and priorities
