Role/Job Summary
This role is primarily responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the logistics team, such as maintenance, shipping, warehousing and procurement, are working together to fill orders and deliver materials in a timely manner.
They will review all processes and systems, as well as design and implement new plans and procedures as needed.
Responsibilities
Assist Operations in monitoring expenditures within the allocated budget.
Managing relationships within organizations and with clients.
Highlighting all risk issues promptly to line manager.
Implement and adhere to all health and safety procedures including maintenance schedule.
Receiving briefings and situation reports from the Site Officers, Administrative Staff, other team members and ensuring that all management personnel are kept informed of status changes.
Analyze data to monitor performance and plan any necessary improvements.
Manage staff training and development requirements.
Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems or customer issues.
Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems and processes.
Implement specific customer requirement, such as internal reporting, tracking goods in transit and send situation alert to clients while maintaining a customized transportation metric.
Ensure the inventories of spare parts are up to date, visit the warehouse and prepare monthly stock count report.
Maintain and provide daily records and reports of expenses and activities.
Monitoring of all vehicles in transit and making sure they adhere to schedule while coordinating with the on-site supervisors.
Ensure proper documentation is maintained and properly recorded throughout the process life cycle.
Direct or coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse or final disposal of resources.
Monitoring of all vehicles in transit and making sure they adhere to schedule while coordinating with fleet officers.
Allocate and manage staff resources based on changing needs.
Manage staff training and development requirements.
Review global, national or regional transportation or logistics reports for ways to improve efficiency or minimize the environmental impact of logistics activities.
Develop and implement policies or procedures for logistics activities.
Coordinating, managing and supervising driver’s activities through the fleet officers.
Follow up with appropriate unit to ensure all vehicle papers are renewed as at when due.
Be up to date on all laws and regulations concerning fleet transportation industry.
Requirements
Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
Must be able to prepare and administer budgets/resources/people.
Must possess excellent negotiating and Fleet management skills.
Must be proficient with basic computer software such as MS office.
Must have the ability to be diplomatic yet assertive in delivery of duties.
Must be dependable and proactive.
Must possess excellent time management and communication skills.
Must be able to pay great attention to detail.
Must be able to multi task and work under stressful conditions.
Must possess good analytical and organizational skills.
