Job description
The Project Information Manager will have the responsibility of interfacing with clients, staff, project team members, discipline engineers, designers, constructors and equipment suppliers to specify, plan and deliver information in formats compatible project requirements. He will also be responsible for the development and implementation of project information strategy, developing contractual terms and conditions, methodologies of working, oversee information management QA/QC activities and manage the handover process. He/she is to report to the Information Manager (IM).
Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this office shall include but is not limited to the following:
- The Project Information Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the project information management plan
- Act as the project team’s information management expert and champion with responsibility for rolling out the project’s information management framework across the project. This involves development of strategies for the IM processes as well as the planning, costing, and recruitment of necessary IM resources
- Facilitate improvements in project execution through leadership, standards and behaviours and the implementation of solutions that educate and encourage internal and external stakeholders to become more collaborative.
- Manage the provision of Information Management (IM) services on projects
- Management of the deployment and integration of system tools, required to produce project deliverables.
- Liaison with the IT and Project Management team to develop technological road map for projects
- Management of the IM connectivity and collaboration requirements between engineering, client, construction, contractors and vendors for the project
- Identification and assessment of opportunities to utilise Information Technology to improve operational and business processes
- Training and motivation of the IM team
- Functioning as an IM interface between the project contractors and vendors, and optimise the information exchange between all internal and external project team participants
- Development and execution of document and data control procedures
- Management of electronic deliverables in a format and medium that meets internal and client requirements
- Identification of the project and business requirements for all information necessary during the project life cycle
- Ensuring the IM applications have been delivered to support the storing, control, sharing, workflow, security, accuracy and completeness of the information
- Management of the day to day operations of the project document control department
- Management of the Project IT Support person and ensuring that the IT support issues are addressed on a timely basis escalating any issues to the IT manager
- Handover the information as required by the contract in the specified format
- Provision of assistance as required in the management, administration, and training of team personnel
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess at least 5 to 10 years experience in Information Management/Document Control in the Oil and Gas Industry
- Must have completed a minimum of a full one year EPC project as either a Information Manager or Lead Document Controller with involvement in all aspects of the documentation and data from detailed engineering through to handover
- Must have extensive experience in setting up and using Electronic Document Management systems
- Must have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to handle multiple complex assignments with tight schedules changing scope and requirements
- Able to plan and execute projects in a timely and cost effective manner
- Must be familiar with Information Management and associated software tools
- Must be familiar with Information Management aspects of offshore facilities and installation
- Must be an acute problem solver with an eye for detail
- Must be able to work with the highest levels of customer service, confidentiality and ethical behaviour
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and web based project coordination tools
